Here’s one last Christmas item then we’re moving into 2008. But for this, we actually need to go back to Christmas 2006, when Charlie’s dad Luckey sent out an e-mail to close friends and extended family offering up a suggestion from the kids. Charlie forwarded it to me so that I could share it with you.

Subject: Christmas IdeaAnnie, Charlie and Sarah have suggested that, instead of sending a present to someone they may hardly know, they would rather send a letter to all on the list introducing themselves, telling what is going on and generally serving a purpose of reaching out and trying to establish a closer cohesion within this extended family.
What do you think?
Luckey
Problem was, nobody had suggested any such thing. Luckey just wanted to bring the family closer, and he thought this was the best to way to introduce his idea for accomplishing that.
Unfortunately for Luckey’s objective, Charlie did not feel the same. He thought it was a stupid idea, and he didn’t like that it had falsely been attributed to him. His reply to all two days later offered clarification of that, and much more.

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, except for Charlie’s mouse,His keyboard went “click”, his hands in his hair,
The thought of a year-end letter drove him to a scare,“What should I write, what should I say,
Should I come out of the closet? Should I tell them I’m gay?”To get him inspired, a shot of whiskey do bring,
To give him inspiration on this year-end letter thing,“Who’s idea was this, don’t I have drugs to do?
There’s a special at the strip club, buy one lap dance get two”The family should know, “extended” and “all,”
my day to day business, and when I piss in a stall,“What do you think?” no one asked of me,
But it was my suggestion, a pear aunt leeBush is a fool,
CharliePS You’ll have my letter Christmas Eve.
