I’ve noticed, as I’ve shared with you visual artists through Show Us Yours and musical artists through Required Listening, that visual artists tend to be much more expressive in their answers to my questions than musicians. In an initial effort to better balance the responsive scales, I’ve added the following note to my e-mails to musicians who have so graciously agreed to answer my inquiries:
The focus of yorkrules is the individual. This interview is a brief exploration of who you are, what you think, and how you feel about a variety of subjects.
Will this minor modification better open the souls of musical interviewees to me? Read the following Q&A with The Bird and the Bee while you listen to Polite Dance Song and find out!
Who are The Bird and the Bee?
Greg Kurstin and Inara George.
Why do you create?
We enjoy it.
What is the allure of retro?
Great music and style.

I’m an arrogant perfectionist. Name something about yourself that your friends and family would agree is a character flaw, and what you think about that?
Maybe stubborn? And I would have to agree.
Where are you in your career?
I have no idea.
