The Anthony ProjectCancer redefines lives. Documenting the disease’s impact on the lives of the individual, his family, and his friends, The Anthony Project examines how cancer affects all whom it touches. Through sound and pictures, this artistic endeavour not only explores the deleterious influence of the illness on our lives, but also considers the countervailing responses of those who have endured it.

The Anthony Project encapsulates universal themes through the personal story of Anthony, who lost his life to cancer during the production of the project. It offers a multifaceted view of the human struggle for survival, combining portraiture, candid snapshots, and audio interviews with Anthony and eight of his family members and close friends.

The portraits, nine in all, provide a focal point for each of the featured individuals. Each portrait is accompanied by two snapshots – the sort typically found in a family photo album or framed on a desk – which illuminate the relationships in a way easily related to others. Three short audio clips, selected from interviews conducted with each individual, share the personal thoughts of all those involved.

The goal is to make The Anthony Project available for public viewing, as an instrument both of learning and healing for those whose lives have been touched by cancer. The project, currently in production, welcomes potential partners and patrons to contact Julie Ragland with any inquiries or offers of support.

You can contribute to the success of The Anthony Project by making an online donation using your credit card or PayPal account.

A full accounting of expenses will be made available at yorkrules.com upon the project’s completion, and any remaining funds will be donated to the Colorectal Center at the USC/Norris Cancer Hospital.

    anthony,

    you still REMAIN…
you live in the heart of everyone
who loved you: everyone met you,
    will always love you!
    You remain, you still remain,
you will always remain with your soul,
with your eyes, with your voice,
with your smile, with your “poetry”:
the evocative way you lived your life!
    You remain!
You are in a ray of light,
in a sunny day and in a cloudy day,
in a rainbow, in a song,
in a whisper of the wind,
in the smile of a child,
in the embrace of a mother,
in a flower, in the dew,
in a sunset and a sunrise,
in the waves of the sea,
    in a colour,
    in a kiss of lovers:
in all the best God can give us-

    REQUIESCAS IN PACEM

    I smile for you,
in the other part of the world,

    roby
