Have you ever seen a bear in the woods, shitting or not? I did once, after I drove 5 hours north of Toronto, Canada and then kayaked 2 days into the hinterlands. He appeared to be a young black bear, but it was impossible to confirm, for as soon as we made eye contact, he hurriedly and silently evaporated into the tree line. My point is, catching a glimpse of a bear in the wild is not a common occurrence, so how can we be sure they’re not everywhere we don’t see them?
