The Ugly Americans arrived in China on July 4, 2006, and it just got uglier from there. By plane, taxi, motorcycle, train, and foot, they spread their ugly Americanness across China and Mongolia. Drinks, drugs, friends and fights churned about in their ugly wake, and after a month of incoherent diplomacy, they limped back, coughing and confused, to safer harbours (and began planning the next year’s journey.)
